If I take you back 3 years ago to when I was 185 pounds, I wouldn't say I was unhappy. I had two healthy kids, a wonderful husband, a house in a great school district, a stable and awesome job...but there was a little bit inside of me that just wasn't at that same place. I had tried all the diets...Weight Watchers, Adkins, to name a couple, and finally, counting calories. Every single calorie was written down every single day. Little did I know that counting calories wouldn't be all that different from my future lifestyle where I would be happy, healthy and nonrestrictive. As I counted every calorie while staying under the magic number (I couldn't even tell you what the number was), I slowly watched the pounds fall off! I had dropped to 165 pounds and was so excited...but what now? The weight was dropping but my body was just...blah.
I happened to have a coworker who had his eating and workouts in check. He suggested I find a protein powder that I could take before and/or after my workouts. Mentally, this was adding calories to my already low daily calorie allotment. So of course I Google "low calorie protein powder"...and "best protein powder" just to start my search for MY protein powder. Up pops Ideal Lean. An 80 calorie, 100% whey protein powder, no carbs, no fat...MADE FOR WOMEN! Ohhhh K! This has my name written all over it! 80 calories won't break the "bank" and it's made with MY body in mind! While men can totally take this protein (I promise they won't grow boobs or lose their manhood), it has vitamins and minerals in it that a woman's body already needs. I placed my first order...one tub of Vanilla and one tub of Chocolate Brownie...LET'S DO THIS!
As soon as my protein arrived, I started having a shake every day following my "workout". Why in quotes, you ask? Because that was another aspect of my life that wasn't in complete control. I was throwing things together and going through the motions. A couple months into taking my new protein, a sponsored ad came flowin' through my Facebook feed. Trainer Lindsey's FREE 15 Day Fit Body Challenge using Ideal Lean! Yes please! 1. FREE 2. Ideal Lean...already using it and 3. it came with the meal plans and the workouts I needed! I can do anything for 15 days, right?! Well, I'm still eating from a meal plan and get my workout in 6 days a week so I'd say it worked...but I'll get back to that later.
After I completed my first 15 day challenge, I was down 9 pounds and several inches! I decided to repeat the challenge and continued to slowly lose weight. Keep in mind, 9 pounds off the bat seems like a lot but the first week or two of any new "diet" is going to yield pretty good results but then should slow down thereafter. And that's exactly what happened. I had lost 2-3 pounds my second time around and was wanting more of a variety and something I could stick to long term. While I could just repeat the 15 day over and over, I needed to set myself up for success and I knew that would mean changing things up. That's when I purchased Trainer Lindsey's 6 Week Fit Body Challenge. Same set up but more meal plans and 6 weeks worth of workouts! On a future post I'll talk about what you can expect from one of her challenges...because they are amazing! So, I completed her 6 week challenge and lost another 5 pounds! I had received a message from Lindsey responding to progress pics I had posted in the FBC Facebook group, asking if 1. I went to a gym and 2. if I would be interested in helping her test her new 6 week Sculpt program. OMG yes! But wait...I don't go to a gym...sigh. So I replied saying that I don't go to a gym but threw it out there that if she wanted someone who worked out at home to test the program, I would be more than happy to try it out. She said she'd keep me in mind. Let me tell you how excited I was when I got the text that she wanted me to try it out! So we finished testing Sculpt in November of 2016 and I ended up repeating it over and over! It's seriously amazing! I will talk about this in a future post as well!
Shortly after the high of helping test sculpt was starting to come down, I got a phone call from Ideal Shape, the company that created Ideal Fit which sold the challenges and supplements I use. They told me that I had been nominated by someone to be one of the Ship Shape winners (a contest where they highlight 8 people who have made changes to their lives using their products). This won me a trip to Utah to spend time with all of the trainers and coaches and truly understand the WHY behind the Ideal brand. We spent the long weekend in photo shoots and video shoots, talking, crying and laughing. It was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken and I met so many new friends...some of my best friends! Click here to see the finished product!
While in Utah, Lindsey approached me with her dream to do a Fit Body Tour where she would visit cities around the country to workout with women everywhere, and she wanted me to come along to assist! I couldn't believe it! One of my closest friends, Astra Underdown also got this incredible invite, and we make the perfect team!
So that brings me to today. I've taught myself to meal plan for myself and others, meal prep like a boss and build this one body I have, to be the strongest and healthiest it can be! I'm down to 145 pounds but honestly have learned so much about how the body works, that the scale does not matter to me! I owe a lot of this to Ideal Fit. The last 3 years have been an amazing ride and I can't wait to see what's in store for me in the future!
